This is a decent sized reedbed with some pretty large pockets of water, especially in winter.
This reedbed, situated between Mosta and Naxxar, is a lesser known, yet rewarding birdwatching place, if you know when to go. There are a few birds present breeding such as zelenonoga tukalica, svilnica, žametna penica, brškinka and travniški vrabec.
On migration you may find multiple species like siva čaplja, kvakač, rjavi lunj, divja grlica and various passerines. If you're lucky maybe mala tukalica, rdeca lastovka, kozica and plašica.
In winter the pools are at their biggest and a variety of species can also be found such as tašcica, siva pastirica, travniška cipa, ščinkavec and siva pevka. For the full list of birds see the bird list below.
Take the road to leave Mosta down the hill and when the road makes a bend turn left. Keep driving down the hill until you see a small country road. Park your car on the opposite side of the road and walk down the trail to birdwatch. I suggest exploring the area by foot or with bicycle as the road is narrow and will be hard to drive through with car.
