Dam in the river Rhine. Because of the reduced flow speed of the Rhine the river has a more lake like impression. The area is most interesting in winter.
At Rheinstau Weisweil in winter there are many ducks, swans and divers (up to 1000 Ind. all together). But its also interesting in spring and summer, not because of the number of birds, but because some birds are breeding. For example mali deževnik, navadna čigra, veliki žagar, tatarska žvižgavka and mali ponirek.
Rheinstau Weisweil is located northwest of the village of Weisweil. You have to drive with a car to the area because with public transport is not possible. Click on the P in the map for directions. On site you can explore the area on foot or bike.
