Description
Schwarzes Wasser is one of the oldest nature reserves in North Rhine-Westphalia and home to a rich songbird population. The small moor with a lake lies in the sand dunes of the Rhine. The water is fenced, so waterfowl will not be disturbed. Species-rich forest with heath and moorland. From the circular walking route (about 2 km) there are good observation opportunities. Good chances of grmovščica, pogorelček, sivi muhar, črnoglavi muhar, hribski škrjanec, drevesna cipa, zelena žolna, črna žolna, mali detel. In summer also škrjančar und Sršenar. Evenings in April, May chances of courting podhujka and sloka. In winter you can observe veliki srakoper.

Access
Schwarzes Wasser is located north of Wesel. The best place to start is the hiking parking lot at Am Schwarzen Wasser, 46499 Wesel. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. Without observing, you can easily walk around the area in 30 minutes but birdwatchers should allow a good two hours. There is a natural footpath, sometimes a bit sandy.
