Description
The Hemmelsdorfer See is a lake that has many different water birds, depending on the time of year. Breeding birds include labod grbec, konopnica, liska and čopasti ponirek. Other birds that are observerd regularly are vodomec, belorepec, rjavi lunj, srpična trstnica, rakar, modra taščica and brkata sinica. During migration you can observe birds like mali galeb, ribji orel, črna čigra and sivka.
Coolest one I've seen were mali žagar in winter and I heard kobilar in the trees in summer. The boardwalk goes out into the lake and along the reeds. Also great spot for landscape photography.

The Hemmelsdorfer See is located north of Lübeck in the immediate vicinity of the Baltic Sea. The restaurant has a small parking lot, in which you can get a spot very early in the morning. . Otherwise there is a free, public parking area available a little further down the road, which I marked as the trail head. Click on a P in the map for directions.
