Two kilometer hiking trail leading to a a bird observation tower on the border of lake. You cross a forest and pass reedbeds and wet grasslands.
The Groß Schauener Seenkette nature reserve, located around 50 kilometers south-east of Berlin, is a popular attraction for birders. Along a 2 km long trail and from a 12 meter high observation tower you can see birds like žerjav, different kinds of ducks and geese, veliki kormoran, modra taščica, slavec, bičja trstnica, rakar, rjavi lunj, rjavi škarnik, črni škarnik as well as ribji orel and belorepec. With a bit of luck you can hear bobnarica call in spring. The extensive water network is also an ideal habitat for the otter. If you arrive early in the morning, you might spot one hunting for fish.
On the A10 to the Spreeau motorway triangle, then continue on the A12 towards Frankfurt (Oder) to the Storkow exit. Continue on the B246 via Storkow to Groß Schauen. From the Köllnitz fishery near Groß Schauen on the B246, it's a 2-kilometer walk along the signposted hiking trail.
