Description

The Dahlener Heide is a gently rolling forest landscape and forms one of the most extensive landscape conservation areas in the Leipzig region. The terrain is a mixture of coniferous and mixed forests, small stream valleys, ponds, and quiet meadows, creating a patchwork of habitats where more than a hundred bird species nest. This green oasis in the agricultural lowlands of central Germany offers space for numerous birds to live or migrate through. Many of the usual forest dwellers can be observed. Along streams, ponds, and lakes you can find vodomec, mali ponirek, and zelenonoga tukalica.
