Description
The wooden observation tower (Aussichtsturm) Mahnkenwerder is located in the Elbdeichvorland Gothmann and part of the UNESCO Elbe-Mecklenburg-Vorpommern River Landscape Biosphere Reserve. From the high observation tower you have a wide view in all directions on the Elbe flood plains and wet meadows. The upper platform of the observation tower has space for spotting scope, but no roof and no windscreen. Among the birds you can observe in the area are rjavi škarnik, ribji orel, kukavica, duplinska kozarka, žerjav, reglja, zelenonogi martinec, školjkarica, priba, togotnik, veliki škurh and črni martinec.

The Aussichtsturm Mahnkenwerder is more than 15 meters high and gives an unlimited panoramic view of the landscape of the Elbe valley floodplain between Bleckede and Boizenburg. The tower can only be reached as part of a bicycle tour between Bleckede and Boizenburg or on foot on a hike.
