In the western part you can observe different ducks (mlakarica, konopnica, mali žagar), gulls (rjavi galeb, ribji galeb, sivi galeb, mali galeb) and terns (kričava cigra, navadna čigra, beloperuta čigra). In the eastern part near the strait wintering swans (mali labod, labod pevec) and even loons (polarni slapnik, rdečegrli slapnik) can be encountered.
The shores of the eastern part are muddy and flat, so it is a good place for waders (rdečenogi martinec, močvirski martinec, školjkarica, togotnik, kozica). In the reedbeds you can find almost all species of herons, that live in Georgia (siva čaplja, velika bela čaplja, čopasta čaplja, čapljica).
Open spaces, covered with grass on the shores of the reservoir attract larks, shrikes, pipits and birds of prey (including sokol selec, mali sokol, rdečenoga postovka, južna postovka, stepski lunj, stepski orel, ribji orel).
In the coastal forests live woodpeckers (sirijski detel, mali detel, vijeglavka, črna žolna), tits, finches (kalin, ščinkavec) and even krivokljun.
