Description
The ornithological park is an ideal site to observe birds, which include hundreds of plamenec in their natural habitat. Permanent residents of the Parc Ornithologique de Pont de Gau include a number of species of heron, passerines and birds of prey. Large colonies of herons and egrets nest in the trees, whereas terns, gulls and sabljarka take up residence on the lake islands. Several species of passerine can be found singing and nesting in the reed beds and in trees, bushes and hedges throughout the Park. Winter visitors in the Camargue include ducks, geese, žerjav, birds of prey and a number of rarer species, such as the tiny plašica. You have to pay an admission fee.

Parc Ornithologique de Pont de Gau is located at the heart of the Camargue, 5 km north of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer. Due to its location, traveling there by car is the best option. Park at the visitor centre. Click on the P in the map for directions. Admission fee is € 8 (2025).

The Park’s reception office is open every day (except on December 25th). A refreshment stand / terrace is open from April to October. An average visit lasts about 1 hour or 1 hour 30 minutes. The 2.8 kilometers of trails in the southern part of the Park are entirely accessible to people with reduced mobility.
