Description
Mont Caroux represents the eastern limit of the Espinouse mountains. There is a rich forestry area where you can have a chance to see vijeglavka, kratkoperuti vrtnik, hribska listnica and brglez. There are also areas of heath which are home to rjavi srakoper, črni škarnik and beloglavi jastreb. And look out for planinski orel. More than 10 pairs breed in the area. Although visible all year round, this large raptor preferably performs acrobatic courtship displays in January and February. Other interesting birds you can see in the area are kačar, slegur, puščavec, veliki skovik, žametna penica rumenoglavi kraljicek and skalni strnad. In winter you have a chance to see skalni plezalček, planinska pevka and planinski vrabec in the area.
