Description

Île d'Aix is an island of approximately 1.20 km2 with many different habitats. There is a fairly large forest, mainly composed of conifers, but also species of deciduous trees. Among the species present in this environment, you find menišček , čopasta sinica or plavček. During migration, črnoglavi muhar and pogorelček are very common. Some raptors are also present, such as škrjančar or skobec, and, more rarely, kragulj. Other breeding species usually sing in the undergrowth, such as siva pevka, stržek, cikovt and tašcica.

Among the other areas of the island, there are large cereal crops, in which you can find other bird species, such as španska kotorna, fazan, travniška cipa, poljski škrjanec or rumena pastirica. Birds of prey are also present, like navadna postovka or kanja. In migration, you find other species such as kupcar or repaljščica. In winter, very large groups of ščinkavec, pinoža, čižek and zelenec are formed in fields.

Finally, the last main environment is made up of marshes, in which different species nest, such as polojnik, sabljarka and brškinka. In Autumn and Winter, these marshes offer refuge for many species of shorebirds, notably spremenljivi prodnik, mali prodnik, črni martinec, pikasti martinec, črnorepi kljunač, veliki škurh, veliki prodnik and many others. At low tide, these birds generally feed on the mudflat which surrounds the island. Numerous gulls (breeding birds, migrants and winterers) are present on the island. You can observe sivi galeb, srebrni galeb, rumenonogi galeb, rjavi galeb, veliki galeb, rečni galeb, črnoglavi galeb and also terns like kričava cigra. Many other rarer species can be observed. The rjavi škarnik and the ribji orel are two migratory raptors quite present on the island in autumn.

Français: Une île dans la mer des perthuis, accueillant chaque année de nombreux oiseaux, notament des migrateurs en halte. Cette île d'environ 1, 20 Km2 possede un certain nombre d'habitats propices pour la biodiversité. On y retrouve notament un assez grande forêt, principalement composée de conifères, mais aussi d'autres essences d'arbres à feuilles caduques... Parmi les espèces présentes dans ce milieu, on retrouve les Paridés, comme la menišček , čopasta sinica ou encore la plavček. En migration, le črnoglavi muhar et le pogorelček sont des hotes très communs. Quelques rapaces sont aussi présents dans ce bois, comme le škrjančar ou l' skobec , et, plus rarement, l' kragulj . D'autres espèces nicheuses chantent généralement dans les sous-bois, comme l' siva pevka , le stržek , la cikovt , le tašcica.

Parmi les autres milieux de l'île, il y a de grandes cultures céréaliaires, dans lesquelles on peut retrouver d'autres espèces, comme la španska kotorna , le fazan , le travniška cipa , l' poljski škrjanec ou encore la rumena pastirica ... Des rapaces sont aussi présents, comme le navadna postovka ou la kanja . En migration, on trouve d'autres espèces comme le kupcar ou le repaljščica. En hiver, de très grands groupes de ščinkavec , pinoža , čižek et zelenec se forment dans les champs.

Enfin, le dernier milieu principal est composé de marais, dans lesquels nichent différentes espèces, comme l' polojnik , sabljarka et la brškinka. En Automne et en Hiver, ces marais offrent refuge à de nombreuses espèces de limicoles, notament les spremenljivi prodnik , mali prodnik , črni martinec , pikasti martinec , črnorepi kljunač , veliki škurh , veliki prodnik et bien d'autres. A marrée basse, ces oiseux s'alimentent généralement dans la vasière qui entoure l'île. De nombreus laridés, nicheurs, migrateurs et hivernants sont présents sur l'île. ON peut notament observer les sivi galeb , srebrni galeb , rumenonogi galeb , rjavi galeb , veliki galeb , rečni galeb , črnoglavi galeb et kričava cigra pour les plus communs. Mais bien d'autres espèces plus rares peuvent être observées. Le rjavi škarnik et le ribji orel sont deux rapaces migrateurs assez présents sur l'île en automne.

Access

The island is only accessible by boat. Best option is the ferry leaving from Fouras. All year round a daily ferry service connects the island to the Pointe de la Fumée at the far end of the Fouras peninsula. The crossing takes about 20 minutes (for more info on the tickets and time table see the link below). The island itself you can only explore on foot or by bike. You can rent bicycles on the island.

Français: L'île n'est accessible que par bateau, notament avec le ferri partant de Fouras. On ne peut la vister qu'à pied ou à vélo. Des vélos avec charrettes sont par ailleurs disponiles sur l'île pour une modique somme.

Many rarities have been observed on the island. Some examples: the azteški galeb, present from August 24 to September 28, 2018, then from August 20 to 28, 2019. A črni škorec stayed from October 23 to 26, 2014. A progastokljuni galeb stayed from October 20 to November 1, 2004, then another on February 10, 2018. The mušja listnica is also a regular, almost annual, island guest.

Français: De nombreuses raretées ont été observées sur l'île. On peut notament citer la azteški galeb , présente du 24 Août au 28 Septembre 2018, puis du 20 au 28 Août 2019. Un črni škorec est resté du 23 au 26 Octobre 2014. Un progastokljuni galeb est resté du 20 Octobre au 1 Novembre 2004, puis un autre le 10 Février 2018. Le mušja listnica est aussi un ôte régulier de l'île, presque annuel.
