Former seawater settling basins. This vast area is a fantastic place for the observation of waders.
The Bassins de Décantation in Stes Maries de la Mer are recognized nationally and internationally for the wealth of migratory birds. Particularly for the rare birds which it welcomes every year. You can see rare passerines (such as rdečegrla cipa or mušja listnica), waders (such as mali rumenonogi martinec, ploskokljunec, prekomorski prodnik, belotrtični prodnik, sabljasti martinec or jezerski martinec) or raptors (sredozemski sokol, rdečenoga postovka and stepski lunj).

The Bassins de Décantation are located just east of Stes Maries de la Mer. You can walk from the village of you can get there by car, by the dyke road that runs along the sea. The circular route around the area is about 3 km.
