Description

Crocodile Island is located in the river Nile. The reedbeds and wetlands line the shore on both sides of the bridge to the mainland. Look for mala bela caplja, kravja čaplja, rjava čaplja, afriška sultanka, škrjančar, južna postovka, rjavi lunj, črnobeli pasat, ribji orel, lebduh, wintering dabbling ducks and waders.

The hotel gardens are a refuge for smaller birds and migrants such as čebelar, smaragdni čebelar, kobilar, veliki skovik, smrdokavra, divja grlica, podhujka, vijeglavka, rjavi srakoper and various warblers.

Access

Luxor is a popular tourist destination with its own airport. Trains from Cairo take about 10 hours. Crocodile Island is located in the river Nile just south of Luxor. From the city centre there are plentiful buses and taxis.
