This forest was completely destroyed during the First World War. But it was replanted. The forest is about 91 ha.
In the Polygoonbos it is nice to walk along the beautiful avenues. Every now and then you walk through a piece of heathland. You can hear and occasionally see quite a few birds. The črna žolna can be heard from far away and occasionally seen. Sršenar circles in the sky.

Nederlands: Het Polygoonbos werd tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog volledig vernield. Maar het werd opnieuw aangeplant. Het bos is ongeveer 91 ha groot. Het is er leuk wandelen in de lange mooie dreven. Af en loop je door een stukje heide. Heel wat vogels kan je horen en af en toe ook zien. De črna žolna kan je al van ver horen en af en toe ook zien. Sršenar cirkelt in de lucht.
The Polygoonbos is located south of the town of Zonnebeke. You can walk into the forest via many entrances. The car park is located at 'De Dreve'. Press P on the map for directions to the car park. The circular walk shown on the map is approximately 3 km.
