Description
Over 240 bird species have been found at the Güssinger Fischteiche, making it one of the best places in southern Burgenland for birdwatching. The site is also easily accessible from the town and can be incorporated with a visit to the well-known castle nearby. Highlights include breeding sivka and čopasti ponirek, a heron colony with siva čaplja and velika bela čaplja and summer migrants including čapljica and trstni cvrčalec. In spring the site attracts waders such as polojnik as well as passage birds such as mali galeb and črna čigra. The site also has some woodland, which contains črna žolna, dlesk, pivka, and there is a chance of belorepec.

Access
You can park in the main town car parks and walk across the road. Click on the P in the map for directions. The circular route indicated on the map is about 6 km. The paths in between the fishponds themselves are private, but birdwatchers are tolerated and local walkers often use these too. These paths offer the best views of the ponds.
