Description

Hasties Swamp National Park encompasses 56.6 ha and is a seasonal wetland. Open water, reeds, muddy edges and sedge land vary with the cycle of wet and dry seasons. The wetland is surrounded by open eucalypt forest. The area has a large two-storey bird hide, with informative signs and offers excellent waterbird viewing opportunities. The best time for birdwatching is during 'the dry' (April to October) as the swamp dries out and the area becomes an important refuge for waterbirds. Up to 1500 Magpie Goose may be seen at one time.
