Ponds in the Ararat Valley that are free to visit.

Description

The Ararat ponds are located near the most popular birding spot in Armenia – Armash. However, unlike Armash, these ponds can be visited for free, without the need for permits or prior arrangements. Over the course of observations here, more than 80 species of birds have been recorded, mostly waterfowl. If you weren't able to visit the Armash ponds, Ararat Ponds are a good alternative.

Access

You can reach the Ararat ponds by car, preferably by jeep. In early spring and after rainfall, some sections of the road become very muddy. From Yerevan, head along the M2 highway, turn at the Natural Stone Processing Plant, using it as a landmark, and then follow the route shown on the map.
