The name of Gouraya National Park is derived from the 660 metres high Gouraya Mountain. The mountain, cliffs, forest and beaches give the park a rich biodiversity. City of Bejaia has an airport and train station and is 2 and a 1/2 hours east of Algiers. The N24 coast road passes through the park. Most other roads are narrow, steep and winding. Summer temperatures can reach 47° and are best avoided. Travel here in early spring or late autumn for best results.
