Description

Although the St. Augustine Alligator Farm is a zoo and theme park, there are excellent bird watching opportunities here. The Native Swamp and Rookery is a natural bird nesting area protected from disturbance by alligators. Observations are possible from very close up. However, the birds nest everywhere in the zoo, so you should pay attention to falling bird droppings. Among the birds you can observe are Roseate Spoonbill, Great Egret, Snowy Egret, Green Heron, Wood Stork, Anhinga, Little Blue Heron, Tricolored Heron, White Ibis and Great Blue Heron.
