This is the smaller part of the Rutland Water Nature Reserve. The kršiak rybárs' nest reliably has young in early summer.
Chief point of interest of this is the smaller part of the Rutland Water Nature Reserve is the kršiak rybár nest. It's difficult to see beyond the kršiak rybár nest, and there are few places in Britain where this species breed reliably. The Wildlife Trust know this and provide scopes, people and a video link to help visitors to appreciate these birds. This section of the reserve has several hides looking across the southern arm of Rutland Water in a more natural outlook than the main reserve.
Keep an eye open: there are other birds worth noting - beluša veľká, for example.
Lyndon visitor centre is off Lyndon Road, east of the village of Manton. It's signposted "South Shore" at the A6003 and "Nature Reserve" on Lyndon Road. There's a carpark next to the visitor centre.
There is an entry fee, which also covers the Egremont part of the reserve. In the reserve, access is only by foot. Two hides are accessible to disabled visitors.
Two hides give views to the Osprey nest. The further one is worth the extra walk.
