Low lying island 4x2 km in Firth of Clyde. Popular weekend tourist destination. Good for seabirds, waders and warblers.
Great Cumbrae Island is a good place to see sula biela which nest on nearby Ailsa Craig. Also auks, terns, skuas, sea ducks especially ľadovka dĺhochvostá, shearwaters and fulmar ľadový. Waders including lastúrničiar strakatý, hvizdák veľký, kamenár strakatý, pobrežník morský best viewed at the north end. Warblers including svrčiak zelenkavý nest in abundance.
10 minute car or pedestrian ferry from Largs, which is 27 miles west of Glasgow via A760. Train or bus available in Largs. Drive, cycle or walk around the island's coast. Boat trips also available. A circular walk of the island is 16 km/10 miles.
