Urban park and forest in Istanbul that covers more than 400 hectares.
Atatürk Kent Ormani is a park and forest area located in the Sarıyer district of Istanbul. The park has ponds, several hiking trails and a cafeteria. The park is divided into two parts by a deep valley between Hacıosman and Derbent. In this valley, there are two natural ponds. Among the birds you can observe are hrdlička malá, kormorán malý, ďateľ hnedkavý, ďateľ malý, dážďovník skalný, rybárik riečny, alexander veľký, alexander malý, sedmohlások bledý (especially in May and June), penica sivá and slávik obyčajný. During migration periods many storks and birds of prey can be seen flying overhead.
Atatürk Kent Ormanı is located between Hacıosman, Derbent, Ferahevler and Darüşşafaka districts in Istanbul. It is possible to reach the area, which borders Büyükdere Street, from the Hacıosman and Darüşşafaka metro stations located in the north and south. There is an open car park for about 200 cars. Press P in the map for directions to the parking. There are several trails to explore the area. The Çıtkuşu Trail is 1.8 km, the Water Trail 2.8 km and the Forest Trail 3 km. In total there are 12 km of hiking trails. The circular walk indicated on the map is about 6 km.
