Island in the river Aare that is visited by many birds.
Vogelraupfi is a protected area and is used by various birds such as hus divá, močiarnica mekotavá or rybárik riečny as a breeding and nesting site and is an important resting place outside of the breeding season. The island is 30 meters from the left (northern) river bank, and 115 meters from the right. It is around 292 meters long and a maximum of 78 meters wide. The area is 1.2 hectares. When the water level is low, mudflats expand the food base for birds, especially waders.
There is parking nearby. Click on a P in the map to get directions to the parking spot of your choice. You can make a 5 km circular walk (see the map) that runs along both banks of the river Aare and passes the island on both sides.
