Description
From August to October, numerous thermal gliding birds can be observed passing through the skies around Gurten. The best time is late August and early September. Then large numbers of Včelár lesný are possible. With a bit of luck, bocian čierny will also pass by. Other regular species are: myšiak hôrny, jastrab krahulec, jastrab veľký, sokol myšiar (pustovka), sokol lastovičiar, haja červená, haja tmavá, kršiak rybár, kaňa popolavá, kaňa močiarna and bocian biely. In later autumn large flocks of holub hrivnák pass by. From time to time dážďovník skalný can be observed on food flights.

Access
The Gurten hill is located directly south of Bern city center. The best way is to take the Gurtenbahn funicular that runs from the city to the Gurten. From there it is only a 10 minutes walk to the viewing and observation point.
