Description

Strandstuviken is one of the Sörmlandsleden coast's larger nature reserves and one of the county's most important rest areas for migratory birds. The area consists of a couple of narrow protruding capes and two shallow bays, Snäckviken and Strandstuviken. The beaches are shallow with extensive beach meadows. Further towards land there are forest areas. In winter large accumulations of ducks can be seen on open water. On the shore ends and clay banks are good lands for waders, pipits etc. During the autumn migration, slávik modrák rest in the reeds and over the sea you can observe many birds on the move. There are also plenty of seals to see. In the surrounding varying forest areas more bird species can be found. In the northern part of the reserve are two bird towers overlooking the water and the beach meadows.

Access

The reserve is located on the Baltic Sea coast between Nyköping and Oxelösund. It is most easily reached by car by south of Nyköping, at Arnö, following the road east towards Strandstuviken's camping and bathing area. From the parking lot there is a path to the reserve. There are two parking options, partly at Strandstuvikens camping, partly at the reserve's own parking. The area can be visited on foot or by bike. Note: Parts of the reserve are bird protected areas. In these areas it is forbidden to stay from 1 April to 30 September.
