Description
Stockviken is one of the best birding areas on Gotland. It has two different areas: an inland lake ("inre") with a watchtower and a bay ("ytre"). You can see ducks, geese, orliak morský, skaliarik sivý, terns, reedbirds and waders. Many rare species have been seen here over the years. The area's nesting birds include waders such as kalužiak červenonohý, lastúrničiar strakatý, bojovník bahenný, hvizdák veľký, brehár čiernochvostý, šabliarka modronohá and pobrežník čiernozobý, but also other species such as rybár malý, čegrava veľkozobá and rybár dlhochvostý. Especially in spring – from early April to mid-May – but also during autumn – mainly in October – thousands of bernikľa bielolíca can be seen in the area.
