Description

Laguna de Miralrío is a lagoon south of the town of Velilla de San Antonio, next to the M-208 road and the Jarama River. The wetland is formed by two main lagoons separated by an earth barrier. These are lagoons with a high ecological value, and home to interesting populations of birdlife. Birds you can observe include bučiačik močiarny, trsteniarik veľký, sultánka modrá, kúdeľníčka lužná, vlha obyčajná, volavka purpurová, hrdzavka potápavá, chochlačka bielooká, šišila bocianovítá and potápka čiernokrká.

Español: En Velilla de San Antonio hay varias lagunas y humedales, uno de ellos se localiza al Sur de la localidad, junto a la carretera M-208 y el río Jarama. El humedal lo forman dos lagunas principales separadas por una barrera de tierra. Su origen, como todas las lagunas de la Comarca, se remonta a las extracciones de áridos. Se trata de unas lagunas con un alto valor ecológico, que albergan interesantes poblaciones de avifauna.

Access

Laguna de Miralrío is located south of the town of Velilla de San Antonio. You can park close to the area. Press P on the map for directions to the parking spot. From the parking you can make a circular walk of about 5 km over the small path that surrounds the wetland. Note that when the river has a lot of water it may not be possible to do the circular walk.
