Estany de Banyoles is a natural lake located in northeastern Catalonia and named after the nearby town of Banyoles. The lake is approximately 2,100 m by 750 m with an average depth of 15 m that in several points gets down to 46.4 metres. It is located in a natural tectonic depression. There are always birds to see, but note that in the summer, the number of birds is significantly lower. Among the birds you can observe are bocian biely, vlha obyčajná, trsteniarik veľký, čajka smejivá, čajka žltonohá, rybárik riečny, dudok chochlatý, cistovník ryšavý, cetia západná, slávik obyčajný, kormorán veľký and krkavec čierny.

Estany de Banyoles is located in the town of Banyoles, in the province of Girona, in northeastern Catalonia. Press P on the map for directions to a parking. You can walk all the way around the lake (6,5 km). The northern part of the lake is the best part for birdwatching.
