Description
This spot is located 30 km north of Porto on the northern riverside of Ave estuary, where on low tide some mudflats become accessible for birds to forage. There is a nearby dock where gulls congregate. There (and looking from there to the southern river side), it's possible to spot čajka žltonohá (all year around) but it particularly pays off to keep and eye on gulls during winter since it's possible to find čajka tmavá, čajka smejivá, čajka čiernohlavá, čajka sivá and čajka morská. On the mudflats it's easy to spot kamenár strakatý and kalužiačik malý. During migration the mudflats serve as a stopover site for waders and it's possible to spot hvizdák veľký, brehár hrdzavý and brehár čiernochvostý. On the trees and garden spaces its possible to find drozd čierny, červienka obyčajná, stehlík obyčajný, penica čiernohlavá, sýkorka veľká, kanárik poľný and pipíška chochlatá, to name just a few.
