Description
Albufeira do Azibo is the most important wetland in the northeast of Portugal. A nesting site for potápka chochlatá, a symbol of the protected landscape, and kulík morský. Wintering site for different species, such as kačica divá, kačica chripľavka, kačica hvizdárka, kormorán veľký, volavka popolavá, kalužiačik malý, and many other species. A stopover site for various herons and shorebirds during spring and autumn migration. In the forest surroundings of the reservoir, there are several birds of prey, such as the myšiak hôrny, orol malý, haja tmavá or Včelár lesný as well as several passerines such as kolibiarik iberský, brhlík obyčajný or králik ohnivohlavý.

Access
Albufeira do Azibo is located in the northeastern corner of Portugal, near the town of Macedo de Cavaleiros. In the Azibo reservoir there are several river beaches with access from the A4, with parking (access to some beaches is paid). Press a P on the map for directions to a parking. From the beaches or from the village of Santa Combinha there are trails with access to different locations and bird observatories. The circular route around the entire reservoir has a total length of 25 km.
