Description

Lake Kozłowa Góra near Świerklaniec is a reservoir created by damming the waters of the Brynica river. The backwater zone attracts many species of birds. Because lake Kozłowa Góra is far from other larger water reservoirs it is an important local bird refuge. In its vicinity, A least 246 species of birds were found. Birds that breed around the lake are bučiak veľký, čorík bahenný, chriašť bodkovaný, chriašteľ vodný, kačica chrapačka, žeriav popolavý, vlha obyčajná, strakoš obyčajný, kaňa močiarna, orliak morský and potápka čiernokrká. The adjacent park in Świerklaniec is also worth a visit. It has an area of 154 hectare and houses 20 historic buildings and plenty of forest birds and woodpeckers.

Access

Świerklaniec park and lake are located 20 km north of Katowice, south-east of the vast complex of Lubliniecko-Tarnowskie Góry Forests. Press P on the map for directions to a parking. Best to explore the area on bike or foot.
