Description
The Rammekenshoek nature reserve consists of beach, creeks, reed beds, forest and an old sea fort. In the 'canals' around the fort you can see different types of water birds. Outside the dike lies the only remaining salt marsh of the area. It is an area washed up by the sea with creeks, mudflats, salt-loving plants and coastal breeding birds such as kalužiak červenonohý, lastúrničiar strakatý and šabliarka modronohá. In the reed beds that you can find throughout the area, trsteniarik malý, trsteniarik bahenný, strnádka trstinová and kaňa močiarna breed in the summer and in the winter you regularly encounter fúzatka trstinová. A kormorán veľký colony is present in the forest for many years and you can also find many species of forest birds. Birds that you can encounter in the area include penica slávikovitá, trsteniarik obyčajný, kazarka pestrá, kalužiak perlavý, kalužiak sivý, lyžičiar biely, potápka malá, beluša malá and žlna zelená.

Nederlands: Natuurgebied Rammekenshoek bestaat uit strand, kreken, rietkragen, bos en een oud zeefort. In de 'grachten' rond het fort kun je verschillende soorten watervogels zien. Buitendijks ligt het nog enige schor van Walcheren. Het is een door de zee opgewassen gebied met prielen, slibranden, zoutminnende planten en kustbroedvogels als kalužiak červenonohý, lastúrničiar strakatý en šabliarka modronohá. In de rietkragen die je in het hele gebied kunt vinden, broeden in de zomer trsteniarik malý, trsteniarik bahenný, strnádka trstinová en kaňa močiarna en in de winter tref je er regelmatig fúzatka trstinová. In het bos zit al jarenlang een kormorán veľký kolonie en kun je veel soorten bosvogels aantreffen. Vogels die je in het gebied verder kunt tegenkomen zijn penica slávikovitá, trsteniarik obyčajný, kazarka pestrá, kalužiak perlavý, kalužiak sivý, lyžičiar biely, potápka malá, beluša malá en žlna zelená.

Rammekenshoek is located east of the city of Vlissingen. There are several parking lots around the area. Press a P on the map for directions to a parking lot. The circular walk shown on the map is approximately 4.5 km.
