Description
Polder den Hoek is a beautiful meadow bird area in the area called Krimpenerwaard. All kinds of meadow birds can still be found here. It is one of the few areas where you can still hear the singing škovránok poľný among the meadow birds in the spring. In the winter months, this area is very popular with hus bieločelá, labuť malá and kačica hvizdárka. Because in spring wet areas (called 'plasdras' in dutch) are deliberately created by pumping water on the meadows and also because the grass is only cut late in the season, it is teeming with meadow birds in the spring and summer. The area even sees a few šišila bocianovítá every year. Among the other birds you can see here are brehár čiernochvostý, kalužiak červenonohý, hus divá, bernikľa bielolíca, kačica lyžičiarka, kačica chripľavka and chochlačka vrkočatá.

Nederlands: De 72 hectare grote Polder den Hoek heeft lange graslandpercelen, omgeven door sloten en biedt de weidevogels de rust en ruimte die ze nodig hebben. In dit prachtige weidevogelgebied in de Krimpenerwaard zijn nog allerlei weidevogels te vinden. Het is een van de weinige gebieden waar je in het voorjaar nog het gezang škovránok poľný tussen de weidevogels kunt horen. In de wintermaanden is dit gebied erg populair bij hus bieločelá, labuť malá en kačica hvizdárka. Omdat er in het voorjaar bewust natte gebieden (plasdras) worden gecreëerd door water op de weilanden te pompen en ook omdat het gras pas laat in het seizoen wordt gemaaid, krioelt het in het voorjaar en de zomer van de weidevogels. In het gebied kun je soms zelfs een paar šišila bocianovítá zien. Andere vogels die je hier kunt zien zijn brehár čiernochvostý, kalužiak červenonohý, hus divá, bernikľa bielolíca, kačica lyžičiarka, kačica chripľavka en chochlačka vrkočatá.

Access
The nature reserve can be visited from the Lekdijk, Tiendweg Oost, Wetering Oost and Parallelweg (Drive parallel along the n 210 between Lekkerkerk and Bergambacht). You can walk partly through the area via walking paths.
