A small pond for waders and ducks between two dikes with a concrete wall with nesting holes for brehuľa hnedá.

Description

The breeding wall for brehuľa hnedá has been discovered by the birds and is used yearly by a good number of pairs. The pond has often waders like kamenár strakatý , pobrežník čiernozobý and kalužiak červenonohý . There can be a variety of ducks, like kačica lyžičiarka , kačica chripľavka and in winter kačica hvizdárka . During migration the area will be visited by trasochvost biely , trasochvost žltý (including the rare Grey-headed Wagtail (thunbergi) and Western Yellow Wagtail (flavissima) ) and ľabtuška lúčna.

Nederlands: Een kleine vijver voor steltlopers en eenden tussen twee dijken met een betonnen muur met nestgaten voor brehuľa hnedá. De broedmuur voor brehuľa hnedá is inmiddels ontdekt door de vogels en wordt jaarlijks door een flink aantal paren gebruikt. De vijver heeft vaak steltlopers zoals kamenár strakatý, pobrežník čiernozobý en kalužiak červenonohý. Er kan een verscheidenheid aan eenden zijn, zoals kačica lyžičiarka, kačica chripľavka en in de winter kačica hvizdárka. Tijdens de trek wordt het gebied bezocht door trasochvost biely, trasochvost žltý (inclusief de zeldzame Grey-headed Wagtail (thunbergi) en Western Yellow Wagtail (flavissima)) en ľabtuška lúčna .

The holes in the Sand Martin wall are closed every winter by volunteers from Vogelwerkgroep Texel (www.vwgtexel.nl), so that the brehuľa hnedá can dig its own nest passages again in the spring to breed.
