A semi open to open landscape, consisting of pastures, small forests and damp meadows: a perfect location for waders, raptors and songbirds.
"De Regulieren" is a semi open to open landscape, consisting of pastures, small forests and damp meadows. The central part of the area consists of open pastures with cattle. The surroundig fences are often used by ľabtuška lúčna and pŕhľaviar čiernohlavý. In spring, when the vegetation of the pastures is still low, some areas contain damp meadows, which are used by mainly waders and ducks. kulík riečný, bojovník bahenný and brehár čiernochvostý can often be found on these parts. Pairs of kačica chrapka can also be found in the small ditches between these pastures. If you're lucky, you can hear prepelica poľná from within these pastures. Sometimes large herds of roe deer can be present. In the surrounding forests, species like kolibiarik spevavý and penica slávikovitá breed and in the higher bushes species like penica popolavá and penica obyčajná can be found. Also, kukučka obyčajná and vlha obyčajná breed in small numbers in the area. The area contains small patches of reedbeds, which are used by trsteniarik bahenný.
Many birds of prey make use of the area as hunting and breeding habitat. Many myšiak hôrny and sokol myšiar (pustovka) can be found in the central part of the area. sokol lastovičiar hunts on dragonflies above the wet pastures and, if you're lucky, you'll encounter a Včelár lesný. Also, kaňa močiarna uses the area to hunt for prey.
In winter, the central part of the area is low in numbers of birds. Sometimes, large flocks of drozd čvíkota and drozd červenkavý can be found here. The forests are used by mixed flocks of tits and finches. Small numbers of králik zlatohlavý can also be found within these flocks. The surrounding pastures of the area are often used by large groups of beluša veľká.
There are two parkingspots (see P on the map) to access the area in which you'll be able to make a circular walk of about 4 km. Almost all of the trails are unpaved roads and on most of them you'll just walk on grass. After a rainy period, these roads can be very wet and dirty. There are several vantage points around to take a look over the central part of the area.
