De Blauwe Poort Laarbeek was built a few years ago to respond to the changing climate. The area of fifteen hectares can both store and retain water. This means that more water is available in dry summers. The water storage has a natural character and ditch patterns and a lot of attention has been paid to nature development. It is a wetland area with an open character and this attracts birds like cibík chochlatý, lastúrničiar strakatý, hvizdák veľký, kalužiak červenonohý, močiarnica mekotavá, kačica chrapačka and sometimes brehár čiernochvostý. During migration you have a chance on kalužiak močiarny, kalužiak perlavý and kalužiak sivý. In the area you can also see many trasochvost žltý and trasochvost biely. You can also see birds like slávik modrák, pŕhľaviar čiernohlavý, strnádka trstinová and various species of ducks. A hiking and cycling path runs through the area and there is a watchtower.

Nederlands: De Blauwe Poort Laarbeek is is een klein waterrijk gebied met natte graslanden en sloten dat veel vogels aantrekt. Vanuit een uitkijktoren kun je het gebied overzien. Het is een paar jaar geleden is aangelegd om in te spelen op het veranderende klimaat. Het gebied van vijftien hectare kan zowel water bergen als vasthouden. Ook te zien in het gebied zijn vogels als slávik modrák, pŕhľaviar čiernohlavý, strnádka trstinová en diverse soorten eenden. Door het gebied loopt een wandel- en een fietspad en er is een uitkijktoren.

De Blauwe Poort is located near the village of Beek en Donk along the N279, opposite the Bemmer business park. There is a gate that leads to the staircase of the watchtower where you can see the whole area. Click on the P in the map for directions.
