Description

The sand extraction area Azewijnse Broek consists of several sand extraction ponds with banks and surrounding terrains. The oldest part is a truly beautiful nature area with ponds, groves, islets, rugs and steep banks. Large parts of the area are surrounded by hedgerows, grasslands, ditches and bushes. Artificial islands have been built in the ponds to offer the rybár riečny a suitable breeding ground. However, the area is still in full development so that flora and fauna (reed / marsh banks, sandy soils) will always have new opportunities in the future.

Birds you can find in the breeding season include: kôrovník krátkoprstý, trsteniarik obyčajný, penica popolavá, bernikľa bielolíca, trasochvost žltý, penica obyčajná, muchár sivý, ďateľ veľký, drozd trskota, vrchárka modrá, holub plúžik, holub hrivnák, trsteniarik bahenný, kulík riečný,stehlík konôpka, kukučka obyčajná, strnádka trstinová, vrabec poľný,sedmihlások hájový, kolibiarik čipčavý,penica slávikovitá, kalužiak červenonohý, škovránok poľný, hrdlička poľná, žľtochvost domový, penica čiernohlavá, rybár riečny.

Ducks (presumably nesting outside the area): kačica divá, kazarka pestrá, kazarka hrdzavá, chochlačka sivá, kačica chripľavka, chochlačka vrkočatá. Special species during the spring migration and autumn migration: kalužiačik malý, kalužiak perlavý and bojovník bahenný use the area as well as:brehár čiernochvostý, cibík chochlatý, lastúrničiar strakatý, kulík riečný, rybár riečny who occasionally breed in the area. We also see kršiak rybár and bocian biely in the area.

Nederlands: Zandwingebied Azewijnse Broek bestaat uit meerdere zandwinplassen met oevers en omliggende terreinen. Het grootste gedeelte van de plassen waar geen zand of grind meer gewonnen wordt is grotendeels ingericht en er is in het oudste gedeelte een werkelijk prachtig natuurgebied ontstaan met : poelen, bosjes, eilandjes, ruigten en steile oevers voor eisvogel en oeverzwaluwen. Grote delen van het gebied zijn omgeven door meidoornhagen, graslanden, sloten en bosjes. In de plassen zijn ook reeds kunstmatige eilandjes aangelegd om de visdieven een geschikte broedplek aan te bieden.

Het gebied is echter ook nog steeds volop in ontwikkeling zodat flora en fauna, riet/moerasoevers, zandgronden ook toekomstig steeds nieuwe kansen zullen krijgen.

Eenden (broeden vermoedelijk buiten het gebied): kačica divá, kazarka pestrá, kazarka hrdzavá, chochlačka sivá, kačica chripľavka, chochlačka vrkočatá.

Roofvogels komen voor in het gebied maar broeden elders mogelijk door het gebrek aan geschikte mogelijkheden: myšiak hôrny, sokol myšiar (pustovka), jastrab krahulec, kaňa močiarna, kaňa sivá, sokol lastovičiar, sokol sťahovavý.

Bijzondere soorten tijdens de voorjaarstrek en najaarstrek: Steltlopers als kalužiačik malý,kalužiak perlavý en bojovník bahenný maken gebruik van het gebied evenals brehár čiernochvostý, cibík chochlatý, lastúrničiar strakatý, kulík riečný, rybár riečny die incidenteel broeden in het gebied. Ook de kršiak rybár en bocian biely zien we in het gebied.

Access

You can easily get there by car and there is ample parking space. The area is ideal for exploring on foot. The total walking trail as shown on the map is about 7 km.

Nederlands: Het Azewijnse Broek ligt tussen de dorpen Azewijn, Netterden, Gendringen en Lengel. Je kunt er met de auto gemakkelijk komen en er is voldoende parkeergelegenheid. Druk op P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving. Het gebied is uitermate geschikt om wandelend te onderzoeken. De ingetekende route op de kaart is ongeveer 7 km.
