Special Area of Conservation in the Sila National Park. Marsh in the mountains which is a crucial stopover for migratory birds.
Palude del Lago di Ariamacina encompasses multiple habitats: a marsh, a lake (artificial reservoir), grassland and a pine forest. It's home not only to a wide variety of birds, but also amphibians such as Italian crested newt (Triturus carnifex), insects and plants such as Pinus nigra laricio. The site is especially good during spring and autumn migration, but good sightings can be done all year around. Noteworthy sightings include bocian čierny and sokol kobcovitý.

Palude del Lago di Ariamacina is reachable by car from SP211 or E846. See the map for the parking spot where you can leave the car. From there, 412 trail (red and white sign for "Diga Ariamacina") is easily accessible by foot or bicycle and it will bring you to the lake. By foot is recommended, since if you go by bike you may miss a lot! From the parking it is about a 3 km walk to the end point of the trail (marked with a star) and 3 km back, so about 6 km in total.

Si raccomanda di andare a piedi, in quanto in bicicletta ci si perde tante osservazioni!
