Description

Ma Tau Wai Service Reservoir is an urban hillside that serves as a 'migrant oasis' during spring and autumn migration. Various flycatchers, warblers and other birds can be seen. Rarities here include Malayan Night-Heron, Black Bittern, Green-backed Flycatcher, Rufous-faced Warbler, Wood Warbler, Red-throated Thrush and more.

Access

Ma Tau Wai Service Reservoir is located in Kowloon City District, Hong Kong, on the ridge between Ho Man Tin and Ma Tau Wai. Access from either To Kwa Wan station (1) or Ho Man Tin station (2) by foot or taxi. Parking can be done in neighbouring streets. The entire hillside is full of metalled roads and narrow footpaths which are worth exploring during migration season.
