The Vourkos river has a south-facing river mouth, and is therefore good to search for spring migrants.
Several kilometers eastwards of Vatera, the Vourkos river streams southwards towards the sea. The river mouth can be great for migrants during spring migration. Species like herons, egrets, storks and waders can be seen near the mouth. Overhead, raptors can be seen flying further inland, like harriers and hadiar krátkoprstý. Small numbers of waders can be seen foraging near the sea.
The surrounding bushes and scattered trees can be good for migrants, like chats, flycatchers, redstarts and flocks of hirundines and swifts.
You can access the area by a road leading from Vatera more inland. Several small paths lead you to the river mouth.
