Description
The raptor watchpoint near Kalloni provides a great view over the valley southwards that mainly raptors and storks tend to follow northwards during their spring migration. You need to have a bit of luck, but if you're there during a peak migration event, hundreds and hundreds of raptors and storks can be observed. Common species that can be seen are harriers, like kaňa popolavá and even kaňa stepná, storks, like bocian čierny and bocian biely, myšiak hrdzavý, Steppe Buzzard, hadiar krátkoprstý, Včelár lesný, jastrab krátkoprstý, jastrab veľký, sokol lastovičiar, sokol kobcovitý, sokol ostrovný, sokol bielopazúravý and sokol sťahovavý. Scarcer species can sometimes be seen within flocks of other raptors, like orol krikľavý, orol jastrabovitý, orol malý and orol kráľovský.
The area surrounding the viewpoint is also good for typical inland species, like skaliar modrý, skaliarik okrový and strnádka sivokrká.
