Description
Alexandros Salt Pans are clearly no longer used for salt production. There are several small lagoons by the beach at the south side and the tarmac road follows the beach. A good dirt track continues along the embankment all the way, finishing as a dead end after 2.4 kilometres.
I visited the site in September during high tide (a dozen of both čajka čiernohlavá and rybár sivý, čajka žltonohá, čegrava veľkozobá, kormorán malý and kormorán veľký, beluša malá, cistovník ryšavý), was somewhat surprised by the low number of birds, so I returned during low tide, only to find even fewer birds and not a single shorebird.
Local eBird hotspot also mention cetia západná, lastovička červenochrbtá, pelikán kučeravý, plameniak ružový, rybár malý, dážďovník plavý, kulík morský, hvizdák malý, kalužiak červenonohý, and kalužiak sivý.
