Especially in winter the bay of Wohlenberger Wiek is worth visiting with a high possibility to spot chochlačka morská. The birds come into the bay when it is windy to seek protection from the wind. Then you can see up to 1000 chochlačka morská and, with luck and patience, potápka ušatá and potápka čiernokrká. Sometimes you can also see divers, such as potáplica stredná. On the way there, you should also keep an eye on the fields, as there is a chance to spot vrana popolavá, labuť spevavá and maybe even labuť malá. For photographers this is not a very good place, because the birds are mostly up to 700m out at the sea.
In summer birds like kulík piesočný, hvizdák veľký and vrabec poľný can be observed. ľadovka dĺhochvostá, turpan čierny, kajka morská, potápač prostredný and turpan tmavý can be spotted too. Access
You can park close to Wohlenberger Wiek, just north of the village of Hohen Wieschendorf. Click on the P in the map for directions. From the parking it is about a 600 meter walk to get to the best viewpoint. It is also possible to get to the viewpoint by bike.
