Description
In the large open area of the Vehnemoor typical marsh breeders such as ľabtuška lúčna, slávik modrák, strnádka trstinová, žeriav popolavý, močiarnica mekotavá, hvizdák veľký, kalužiak červenonohý and kulík riečný are common in spring and summer. There is also a small colony of čajka smejivá and single pairs čajka sivá. The forested area in the central part is a breeding place for lelek lesný, kolibiarik spevavý and ľabtuška hôrna.
On spring migration parts that just have been recently renaturalised are also good spots for Waders. Most numerous species are kalužiak sivý, kalužiak perlavý, kalužiak močiarny, kulík piesočný and pobrežník sivý. From late April to August (best time is first decade of May) other Wader species such as pobrežník čiernozobý, pobrežník belavý, kamenár strakatý, pobrežník krivozobý and pobrežník malý could be watched here.
In winter the area is used as a roosting site for huge numbers of Greater White-Fronted Geese & Bean Geese, Common Cranes and swans.

There are four ways to access the moor (see map). One road through the area could be used by car, others are forbidden to use and blocked with barriers. But those can be explored on foot.
