The Tevenerheide is a nice walking and birding area, located next to Nato airport Geilenkirchen. The Tevenerheide is characterized by alternation between vegetation and landscapes: moist or dry, dense forest or open field. Very good place to view the škovránik stromový quite close. Other birds in the area include pŕhľaviar čiernohlavý, sova lesná, žltochvost hôrny, tesár čierny, sedmihlások hájový, strakoš obyčajný, škovránok poľný and strnádka obyčajná.

"Heathland route" (purple) - 6 km, start: car park Scherpenseel. "Lakes route" (blue) - 7,1, km, start: car park Hohenbusch. "Big nature trail" (yellow) - 9,4 km, start: car parks Hohenbusch/Grotenrath/Scherpenseel. On the map below you see a 10 km circular walking trail.
