With multiple lakes, vast reedlands and wet meadows with multiple lookout towers and one larger observation tower Strengsee/Rietzersee is a reliable site for various sorts of reed- and waterbirds such as kačica ostrochvostá , kačica lyžičiarka , kačica hvizdárka , kačica chripľavka . Also slávik modrák , fúzatka trstinová, kúdeľníčka lužná are possible.
In autumn and winter it is an important site for geese, žeriav popolavý, grebes and ducks. The large flocks of geese sometimes attract orliak morský . Other birds of prey include harriers, kites and buzzards.

Access
The observation tower can best be reached via Netzen. Follow the signs "Beobachtungsturm" there is a parking area very close to the tower. From there walk to the tower which provides a nice view over the lake, and then follow the canal which goes to Rietzer See.
