Large park in the centre of Karlsruhe with a great mix of habitats and birds to be discovered.
The Schlossgarten is a green oasis generously spread out behind the city's main landmark, the palace. It is a mix of classic park and woodland, very easy to access and home to over 100 bird species. Some of the highlight species to look out for in the forested areas of the park are tesár čierny, ďateľ prostredný, sýkorka chochlatá, králik ohnivohlavý and glezg obyčajný. If you are lucky, you may even hear or catch a glimpse of a sova lesná.
The ponds are home to a good number of waterbirds, including kačica divá, hus divá, lyska čierna, sliepočka vodná and volavka popolavá. There are numerous routes and paths to explore. The drawn route (3 km) is a suggestion that takes in a mix of all the habitats the park has to offer.
The Schlossgarten is located directly north of downtown Karlsruhe. The park can be explored on foot or by bike. There are various parking options near the park. Click on a P in the map for directions. The central underground station Marktplatz is only a short walk away.
