Wide grassland landscape with scattered trees, including a flooded gravel pit and a lake with some good silt areas for waders during migration.
During spring and summer, common species that can be found at Saalbachniederung Bruchsal are strnádka lúčna, kulík riečný, cibík chochlatý, potápka malá, močiarnica mekotavá, pŕhľaviar červenkastý, muchárik čiernohlavý and trsteniarik veľký. Sometimes a volavka purpurová can be seen, bučiačik močiarny breed since 2021, but often hard to see. In fall, migration is quite good for waders (August to mid October). Common waders like bojovník bahenný, pobrežník čiernozobý, kalužiak močiarny, kalužiak perlavý, kalužiačik malý, kalužiak červenonohý, kalužiak sivý, kalužiak tmavý and močiarnica mekotavá in small numbers every year, but also often good for rare waders like pobrežník krivozobý, kulík bledý, hvizdák veľký, pobrežník sivý, pobrežník malýand brehár čiernochvostý (often all of these waders every year present but only single individuals). šišila bocianovítá in 2018 and 2019 with single individuals present. Later in fall (September and October) high numbers of bocian biely, some bocian čierny and žeriav popolavý. Good numbers of ľabtuška vrchovská(up to 30 individuals), some pŕhľaviar červenkastý, pŕhľaviar čiernohlavý, different species of ducks and single kršiak rybár. In reed some chriašteľ vodný and sometimes chriašť bodkovaný, but difficult to see. In winter single individuals of strakoš veľký and kaňa sivá.
