Rieselfelder Appelhülsen

In 1953 the Rieselfelder Appelhülsen were created. After construction of a sewage treatment plant in 1982, this 6.7 hectare area was declared a nature reserve.

Description

The shallow water ponds of nature reserve Rieselfelder Nottuln-Appelhülsen are of particular importance as moulting, resting and breeding places for waders and waterfowl. It is also a habitat that is particularly valuable for endangered plant and animal species. Among the birds you can encounter in the area are strnádka trstinová, hus bieločelá, bernikľa bielolíca, kačica chrapka. potápka malá, kukučka obyčajná, lastúrničiar strakatý, cibík chochlatý, kulík riečný and trsteniarik malý.

Access

The nature reserve is located directly to the south of the village of Appelhülsen. It can be reached by bicycle and car. Parking nearby. Click on the P in the map for directions. From the parking it is a short walk to the bird hide.
