With over 100 hectares, the Ockstädter Kirschenberg is the largest contiguous orchard area in Hessen. 84 bird species have been recorded in the area.
The Ockstädter Kirschenberg is one of the most important areas for the žltochvost hôrny (be careful not to confuse it with the žľtochvost domový). The žltochvost hôrny is represented here with over 50 territories and is considered to be endangered in Hesse. Other birds you can see in this area are krutohlav hnedý, jastrab krahulec, kôrovník krátkoprstý, hrdlička poľná, strakoš obyčajný and kuvik obyčajný.
